Mark begins a discussion of the XML Infoset and engages in the interesting question of how much the model influences what people are able to express and how they express it. The beginning thoughts of an inquiry that Mark wants to carry forward, this essay provides useful illustrations of the different ways that Web applications are specified above the Infoset as a way of being abstracted out of the XML representation, sort-of.
